RE: Cost of ownership 7.3 vs 6.0, What's your opinion?

7.3 oil filter $10 6.0 $29
7.3 air filter $9 6.0 $59
7.3 fuel filter $10 6.0 79
to me I have had all 3 motoer 7.3 6.0 and 6.4 I would love to get my hands on a good 7.3 and never give it up.
P.s. my 7.3 got the best mpg of all

RE: Ever been snubbed or ashamed because of your RV?

Never on both accounts. The way I figure it, if they dont like my rig when I pull up they are always free to pack up and find a nicer rig to park next to. :B

RE: auxillary fuel tank

I use a real simple system. I have a gravity flow type tank, I put an inline fuel pump with a swich on the dash to turn on/off the pump as i need it. It is legal enough for me and as long as you watch your fuel gauge you wont over flow.

RE: Towing MPG - 2007 CTD and 7.5k lbs 5th wheel?

I have a 2007 CTD (5.9) crew cab dually, when towing my 5ver (11000 lbs loaded) I usually get between 13 and 15 mpg on level ground. When I get into the hills it will drop to between 10 and 12. Unless I get alot of head wind

RE: Starting out again

Sounds like a great plan. I would go with the toy hauler. On your truck make sure you have an aux trans cooler on it. The trans on the 7.3 were known not to hold up very well. Good luck

RE: Full Timing for work / Motorhome vs. Fifth w/ gas prices

I used to pull my 32 ft mountaineer with a 1997 f350 4x4(diesel) with crew cab. Running solo it would get anywhere from 17 to 22 mpg depending on city/highway driving. I would get between 9 and 13 pulling. I know that alot affects your mileage, but I think in the overall average (between buying class A/ toad vs truck/5ver) you would be better off $$$ wise. But you need to look at with having wife and child along space will be at a premium. But like the others have said you need to find what best fits your needs. Good luck

RE: trailers a rockin' ???

I have the side to side jacks on the back end of the trailer. I added an extra set of scissor jacks just behind the back wheels and going to add another set in front of the wheels. also use tri pod stabilizer up front almost no movement at all. Love it.

RE: Diesel fuel stops

If you look real close most places are calling themselves travel ceters not truck stops any more. I know at Pilot when you use a credit card they charge you an extra 5 or 6 cents a gallon to use the truck lanes but not the auto lanes.
